Aboriginal Boxing Legends Exhibition by Miriam Cabello
Sydney Preview • 1–14 August 2011

New York show September 2011:

For this exhibition I have chosen to paint Dave Sands, Ron Richards, Lionel Rose, Tony Mundine.

My goal is to complete the series with all the Aboriginal boxers that have been inducted into the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame: and including the next generation perhaps –
Chad Hoskins introduced to me by Ken Rowsthorne, journalist for the National Indigenous Times.

The message and story is very important to me. All have touched me profoundly with their individual poignancy.

These stories should not be lost but remembered and treasured in an exhibition that represents their rich cultural contribution to Australian history.

The next stage New York. My exhibition will be part of the The DUMBO Arts Festival that attracts 200,000 visitors over 3 days with the participation of over 500 artists from a variety of disciplines, 100 studios, 50 galleries and stages and 100 programming partners.

This year, the Festival will take place on Friday, September 23rd, Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th."
