Cabello C.V.

Current work The Passion: Stations of the Cross. The second Station in the series, 'The Betrayal', has already been exhibited as a finalist at the 2007 Blake Prize for Religious Art, chosen from over 600 entries and then short listed to tour Australia.

Within a year of launching her series of paintings, ‘White Rope’ (2005), Cabello achieved award winning international status. Winning an award at the Fifth Annual International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy (painting) and Artoteque, London (painting). Cabello also held exhibitions in Sydney, Barcelona and Florence in 2006.

Cabello was featured in the Australian Institute of Export magazine "Dynamic Export": a feature article covering her amazing achievements in art and business (Issue Feb 06).

Following this article, she was invited to participate in the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Visual artists CD. The CD will be promoted to appropriate galleries overseas through Austrade representatives in 58 countries.

Her new series ‘Stations’ has transpired from an osmosis between the rapid movement of Abstract Expressionism and the Old Masters’ historical painting techniques from the 13th to 19th Centuries.

The paintings represent three types of skin in one composition. White, Olive/tan, & black. Each model is painted in a different traditional Baroque & Rococo technique in order to utilise the best technique for each model’s skin. Eg white flesh will be painted using the Van Dyck & Rubens method. Olive/tan flesh Rembrandt & Goya method. Black flesh, Caravaggio & Velázquez.
